How I Shape Microbladed Brows
Let’s talk about shaping! This can arguably be one of the most important steps in achieving amazing brows! I use a mixture of the golden ratio method and the string method!
GOLDEN RATIO
The Golden Ratio is something we can find in all of our surroundings: flowers, buildings, galaxies, and especially in the human face and body! It’s known to be the most visual appealing to the natural eye. Our bodies naturally have this down! Examples: The width of the lips is in the relation to the width of the nose. The distance between the whites of your eyes is the golden ratio to the distance between the eyebrows. From shoulders to the top of toes, the elbow is the golden ratio. From the feet to the scalp, the navel is the golden ratio, etc.. I could go on an on. I always start by measuring the correct length of of your brows and where your arch should be, with a golden ratio caliper! based on these ratios, it’ll be the most appealing and natural for the client!
STRING METHOD
Once I have my starting/ending points down. I connect them with an inked string to make sure all my lines are straight and they’re the same between both brows!!
That being said, I ALWAYS check my work with the Phi app to quadruple check that my map is perfectly symmetrical before we start! ( Tip, Do it again before you think you’re done to check again that the stroke placements are symmetrical.)
Last but the MOST important, I get the client’s approval. If they don’t approve, we don’t move forward. It’s that simple. I don’t try to convince them into it. I am open to making little changes per their request. But if it’s too different from what I would provide normally and I don’t agree with shape, we agree to disagree and let them know I may not be the right artist for them!
