What You Need To Know About Saline Removal
What Is It?
Saline Removal is a procedure that uses a sterile saline and an electronic hand held machine to lift out tattoo ink or pigment out of the skin. This technique can be used to lighten brows.
How Long Will It Take?
This is a slightly longer removal process. Each individual session takes about 1-2 hours, with a 8 week healing period between sessions. Those with very pigmented brows can plan on this taking anywhere between 3-8 removal sessions. Total time being around 6-18 months for the full result. Every client’s skin is so unique that it can be hard to predict exacts. It’s all up to how your skin responds to the saline removal treatment.
Does It Hurt?
Unfortunately, Saline removal is not as comfortable as microblading. I do numb you between each pass of saline (3x total) to ensure the maximum amount of comfort during the process. Most clients come back saying the pain is worth the end result!
Does It Work?
YES! Saline removal can be successful! However it takes TIME and PATIENCE with this removal option. If you are wanting the old pigment removed faster, then laser removal can be a great option!
Does It Have Any Risks?
It can. Just like any PMU procedure, it comes with some risk factors. The biggest one being the possibility of scarring. Scar Tissue will not hold any pigment in the future if you are hoping to get your brows redone. To prevent this be sure to follow the pre/post care instructions CAREFULLY, and be sure to go to a reputable artist.
Pre/Post Care:
PRE CARE INSTRUCTIONS are the same as any other PMU service:
48 hrs before session Avoid blood thinners which include: Aspirin or ibuprofen.(blood thinners cause bleeding, swelling, hypersensitivity, slows healing)
Avoid soda/ energy drinks/ coffee 24-48 hours before appointment
Avoid alcohol for 24 hours before appointment
Avoid fish oil vitamin E (natural blood thinner) for one week prior to appointment
Avoid exercise and massage (circulates blood) day of appointment
Avoid exfoliation and anti-aging or acne treatments on area, peel’s (may thin the skin) two weeks prior to appointment
Do not tan or have a sun burned face two weeks prior to appointment
Do not pick, tweeze, perform electrolisis two weeks prior
Do not wax or tint for 3 days prior
Please make sure to eat breakfast and/or lunch before appointment.
Post Care is a little different than normal brow appointments! With saline removal our goal is to REMOVE the pigment. So this healing process will be scabby unlike microblading.
I provide a saline and a Vitamin E solution for you to use during healing:
AFTER CARE INSTRUCTIONS:
Apply Saline Solution 3-5x per day until scabbing is gone.
DO NOT wet, touch, or put anything on the brows until all scabs have INDEPENDENTLY fallen off. (this can make for an uncomfortable healing process, but you WANT to see the scabs.)
AFTER all scabs have fallen off, you may apply Vitamin E Oil to Nourish the skin and soften the scar tissue
As always, feel free to email me with any questions!
