How We Choose The Right Microblading Pigment For You
My goal with Microblading is to help you achieve the most natural and full looking brow possible! That being said, the pigment selection is incredibly important part of that process for you to achieve your desired outcome.
The first thing we take into account is your Fiztpatrick Type. This scale is organized based on how much melanin (color) you have in your skin and how susceptible you are to sunburns. (click here to learn more about Fitzpatrick typing.) This helps us determine how deep of a color to use on you.
Once we have figured that out, we find your natural hair color, and what will look best on you in the long run. We take into consideration if you dye your hair, if you dye your brows, what your brow goals are, and how warm or cool your skin tone is. EXAMPLE: If you’re a natural blonde and have natural blonde hairs, the black color would look silly! We try to enhance the brows you already have, not cover them up.
After we have discussed all of the options, I mix my pigments to match your brows perfectly. I ask you to be DETAILED with me at your 6 week touch up about the pigment, if you’d like it darker, warmer, cooler etc. This communication is KEY in helping us achieve the brows of your dreams!
Microblading is a two step process. Your brows will most likely have a difficult time taking the pigment the first time, which is why we have the six week touch up to saturate those strokes with the pigment again and that typically does the trick!
Please keep in mind, that microblading is semi-permanent BUT your brows will never completely fade unless you opt for removal. When your brows fade, it’s important to know what to expect. The high quality pigment I use, will only fade to a taupy/light grey after 2 years. NOT that dreaded red, blue, or yes, even green! I’ve seen it all. That comes from low quality cheap pigment. IF the artist of your choice cannot straight up tell you which color it will fade to, that is a red flag.
The best advice I have to achieving your brow goals, is do your research with artists! And DON’T be afraid to ask questions! The right artist for you should be happy and willing to answer them all honestly.
